Argument: This seminar will aim to provide a reading of Lacan's Seminar XVII, The Other Side of Psychoanalysis, in the light of the questions of our times.

The discursive machinery of our civilization has been brought to a grinding halt by the irruption of a biological real. The co-ordinates of our daily life, our clinical practice and our position in the world have been thrown radically into question.

In this moment of suspense, how are we to elaborate the co-ordinates of a clinical orientation that allows us to respond to the demands of clinical practice under current conditions? And how are we to confront anew the challenges of meeting up with the horizon of the subjectivity of our times?

We aim to pursue these questions via a close reading of Lacan's Seminar XVII, one chapter at a time over a period of 12 weeks. Each week an invited speaker will comment on their chosen chapter, followed by a conversation with a designated discussant.

The Seminar will be held on a Sunday morning between 11.00 and 12.30 BST. All interventions will take place via Zoom. Registration for this seminar is possible via the form below.

Please note that it is not necessary to register again each week. Once you have registered for the seminar a new invitation with link will be sent to you each week with the link for that week's session.
